Hakyoon received her Ph.D from the Department of Second Language Studies of the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She has been teaching Korean at Georgia State University since the fall semester of 2013. Before joining GSU as a full-time lecturer, she had taught at Emory University for two years. Her research involves sociolinguistics with an emphasis on discourse analysis. She works particularly on immigrant language learners’ language use and identity in various social contexts.
